Imposter Syndrome Isn't the Problem. Inauthenticity Is.

Updated: Oct 16

Why do I look past my success when it's staring at me in the mirror?
Why do I look past my success when it's staring at me in the mirror?

We talk about imposter syndrome like it’s a personal flaw. Like we’re the problem for feeling out of place. It gets tossed around in conference rooms, classrooms, locker rooms, and backstage green rooms.

But what if that feeling isn’t failure?

What if it’s feedback?

A signal about misalignment. A nudge toward what we’re actually built to do.

I like to think of it like those toddler toys we played with, those primary colored learning tools designed to teach us how shapes fit into place. If you tried to jam the octagon into the square hole…no bueno. We are exactly the same. We are designed to fit to our passion, not mold into something we are not.

So you see friend, you’re not broken. You’re just in the wrong fit.

From what I’ve seen in my own journey and coaching others, imposter syndrome tends to show up loudest when we’re performing instead of being. When we’re trying to prove, adapt, or shrink into someone else’s definition of success.

But when you stop shape-shifting and start living in alignment, everything shifts and falls into a beautiful perfect energy currency. Just the way it should.

So how do you ignite that spark now that you know?

Here are four ways to bring your confidence back online and reconnect with the real you.

1. Name the Room You Actually Belong In

Imposter syndrome isn’t always about not being good enough. A lot of times, it’s about being in the wrong room. Instead of shrinking to fit, ask yourself: What space is built for the real me?

The right room won’t need you to prove. It will recognize you.

2. Remember, You’ve Already Done Hard Things

Imposter syndrome makes us forget our wins. Take five minutes and list out five times you stepped up, stretched beyond your comfort zone, or created something you’re proud of.

Evidence kills doubt. You’ve done incredible things before. You can do them again.

3. Drop the Mask, Not the Mission

Trying to "look the part" isn’t the goal. Owning your truth is. You don’t need to be more polished or perfect. You need to be real.

People connect with authenticity. That’s what builds trust—and momentum.

4. Align Before You Climb

Don’t chase success just to prove something. Chase alignment. When your work reflects your values, your confidence gets rooted in something deeper.

Get clear on what actually lights you up, and let that guide your next move.

IGNITE THE SPARK: Try it out now

Ask yourself: “Where am I overperforming just to prove I belong?”

Then ask: “What would shift if I trusted that I already do?”

Sit with those questions. Journal them. Talk them out loud if you need to. Your answers will tell you exactly where to reclaim your power.

You’re not broken. You’re just ready for more of the real you.

If that resonates, and you need an energy partner to navigate, let’s talk.
